Die Eike was formerly part of the farm “Groote Vlakte”. Theunis Christoffel Botha was the 6th generation in South Africa. On 3 November 1835, he received the farm Groote Vlakte from his father-in-law. Pieter Barend Botha, the 9th child of Theuns Botha received 328 Morgens of land from his father.
They lived in the building next to the present guesthouse. Jacobus Francois Botha purchased, according to his mother’s Will, the farm “Groote Vlakte” out of her estate in 1895.
In 1929 Andries du Toit Botha started to farm on “Groote Vlakte”. During 1932, his father gave him 174 Morgens of land. From that date onward, this piece of ground was known as Die Eike (The Oaks).
In 1950, Jacobus Francois Botha started farming on Die Eike.
JF Botha purchased Die Eike in 1996, and in 2006 he and his wife decided to change the original homestead into a guesthouse. In 2007 they extended the building to the rear end of the homestead creating what it is today.
Die Eike was sold in 2020 to JW Pieterse. Since then the farm has been known as Keurfontein. The guesthouse, wedding venue and restaurant still operate under the name of Die Eike and is owned and managed by Martelle Etsebeth. Along with three decades' worth of experience in the hospitality industry, Martelle's exceptional flair for event management, as well as décor and floral arrangements, beautifully compliments our wedding, function, guesthouse and restaurant service offerings.
Baie dankie vir 'n onvergeetlike 50ste partytjie aand by julle met 'n wonderlike venue, fantastiese kos en uit die boonste rakke bederf.
Hoogs aanbeveelbaar. Julle was puik!
Excellent hospitality at Die Eike Guest House.
My family and I spent 5 nights at Die Eike for our Summer break.
The facilities are excellent, rooms cleaned every morning, full use of the house, WiFi, the children loved the pool and I enjoyed moments in silence reading and having a braai.
We were greeted with big smiles, our order was immediately taken and our kids were sent on an
Easter egg hunt.
Lovely tranquility and a calm atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Thank you De Eike for making it a memorable Easter Saturday for our family and kids.
